Barinala Ashok Kumar

Founder, Jeevaashramam

The vision of Jeevaashramam began with a deeper understanding of life, spirituality and the place of every living being in creation.

While attending a film story discussion in Madurai, during his free time, Ashok Kumar came across the teachings and life of Sri Ramana Maharshi through A Search in Secret India, written by Paul Brunton.

The introduction deeply influenced him and led him to explore Sri Ramana Maharshi's teachings further. He later purchased and read more of his books, reflecting on the teachings and their deeper meaning.

Over time, this spiritual journey developed into a broader understanding: life is not limited to human beings.

Every living being in creation has life and has a right to live. A human being, a bird, an animal, a tree and every other form of life may appear different, but the presence of life connects them all.

Why Jeevaashramam?

The name Jeevaashramam came from the belief that an ashramam should not exist only for human beings. If every living being has a right to live, then there should be a place where life itself is respected.

A place where people can pray. A place where trees can grow. A place where birds can find food and shelter. A place where animals can live. A place where nature and spiritual life can exist together.

Jeevaashramam — a home for life.

His Journey

Ashok Kumar studied Multimedia and went on to work in the film industry. He has worked on nine films, contributing to important aspects of filmmaking and gaining experience in the creative process and visual storytelling.

A Thought on Wealth

Earn what is enough for you. If you accumulate more than what you need, remember that it may be something that could have fulfilled another person's need. What we possess can also become a responsibility towards another life.

Creating a Place Where Life Can Thrive

Jeevaashramam is a vision to develop a place where devotion, nature and care for living beings can exist together.

The vision is to develop the available land into a peaceful natural habitat with fruit-bearing trees, shade-giving trees and great native trees, while also creating sacred spaces for prayer and spiritual life.

This is a long-term journey. The temples, plantation, habitat and other facilities are yet to be developed in stages. The support we receive will help us begin and gradually build this vision.

THE LAND

Around 9 Acres With a Living Purpose

The land is not being imagined simply as a property. It is being planned as a living space where nature, devotion and life can grow together.

🌳

Trees That Feed Life

Different varieties of fruit-bearing trees will be planted so that fruits can become a natural source of food for birds and other small living beings.

🐦

Habitat for Living Beings

Trees, water and natural spaces can provide food, shelter and resting places for birds, reptiles and small animals.

🌿

Great Trees for Generations

Along with fruit plants, the vision includes planting large and long-living trees that can grow into a lasting natural environment.

One Tree Can Become a Home for Life

A tree is much more than a plant.

It can provide food for a bird, shade for a small animal, a place to rest, a place to build a nest and part of a natural ecosystem.

When trees, water and natural habitat are developed together, they can create a place where many forms of life can find food, shelter and space to live.

Planting a tree is, in our vision, also a way of creating a home for another living being.

WHAT WE ARE BUILDING

Three Connected Purposes

The Jeevaashramam vision brings spiritual development, nature and care for living beings together.

🛕

Sacred Temples

Temples dedicated to Lord Hanuma, Lord Venkateshwara and Lord Ayyappa are planned as peaceful spaces for prayer, devotion and spiritual connection.

🌳

Nature & Habitat

Fruit plants, great trees, water and natural spaces are planned to create food, shelter and habitat for birds, reptiles and small animals.

🕊️

A Home for Life

The larger purpose is to create a place where people can experience devotion while respecting and protecting other forms of life.

DEVOTION

Temples for Peace, Prayer & Spiritual Life

Jeevaashramam plans to develop temples dedicated to Lord Hanuma, Lord Venkateshwara and Lord Ayyappa. These temples are envisioned as peaceful places where people can come for prayer, devotion and spiritual connection.

The intention is also to create an environment that encourages positive and devotional activities and keeps the place peaceful, respectful and useful to the surrounding community.

A Space for Devotees During Their Journey

Jeevaashramam also carries a vision of providing suitable arrangements for devotees wearing the Ayyappa Mala.

When there is a need in the village or surrounding area, arrangements can be developed so that Ayyappa devotees have a peaceful place to stay and spend time in devotion.

This too will be developed gradually as part of the larger Jeevaashramam vision.

A Shiva Temple on the Hill

Another important part of the long-term vision is to establish a Shiva temple on a nearby hill.

The intention is to bring a Shiva Lingam from the Narmada River and establish it there as a sacred place for worship and spiritual reflection.

Surrounded by nature and elevated above the surrounding landscape, this future temple is envisioned as a quiet place where devotees can experience devotion and peace.

This is a future project and will be developed when the required resources and arrangements are available.
A SUSTAINABLE VISION

Grow Nature. Feed Life. Sustain the Ashramam.

The long-term vision is for the natural resources developed here to also contribute towards the continued maintenance of Jeevaashramam.

OUR MISSION

Devotion That Protects Life

Jeevaashramam is being envisioned as a place where spiritual devotion and care for nature are not separate. They are part of one purpose.

Temples can give people a place for prayer. Trees can give living beings food and shelter. Water can support life. Nature can give the human mind peace.

Together, these form the vision of Jeevaashramam.
